Business Focused Advice

I have maintained a solo consultancy since 2002.  Prior to the formation of my current business, I managed all Business Affairs for Equity Marketing, Inc. (now known as EMAK Worldwide).  At that time, Equity Marketing manufactured virtually all of the Kids Meal premiums distributed by Burger King, and operated a consumer products division featuring Scooby Doo toys, Tub Tints, and Headliners licensed collectible figures.  I advised on all aspects of the business including agency-client agreements, license agreements, national promotions, and packaging and safety issues.  Working closely with the marketing, operations and finance departments, we balanced the competing business interests and risks to achieve revenue and profit goals.

Prior to Equity Marketing, I began my legal career at O'Melveny & Myers, a 125 year old international law firm.  As a member of the transactions group in their Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., offices, I structured multi-million dollar mergers and acquisitions and specialized in creating and analyzing complex financial investments.  The training I received instilled an attention to detail and the highest ethical standard, which I continue to uphold today.

I graduated from Pomona College with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Public Policy Analysis and from the University of Southern California School of Law, where I served on the editorial board of the Law Review and was awarded the Order of the Coif.  I have been a guest lecturer at the New York International Toy Fair, the Otis School of the Arts, and the Pepperdine University Graziadio School of Business and Management.  I have been active in the community and volunteer efforts and was awarded the 2007 Volunteer Attorney of the Year Award by Bet Tzedek Legal Services.  I am a native of Los Angeles and live with my wife and daughter.
